2011 TORGAS Awards Brisbane

Skilling the Best

The TORGAS Brisbane Awards was held on the 17th May 2011 at the outstanding Southbank Institute of Technology Training Restrurant. The night recognises the wonderful achievements of TORGAS apprentices and trainees who have excelled in their chosen field during 2010.

Most Outstanding Apprentice of the Year Awards were awarded to apprentices for their skills, attitudes, behaviours and achievements throughout 2010. 

The night brought together TORGAS apprentices and trainees, host businesses, education and training providers, sponsors and family and friends.

Thank you to our MC for the night Bryan Dyball, from Busy at Work,  for his excellent job in keeping the night running along smoothly and professionally. 

 

Most Outstanding 4th Year Apprentice of the Year Award



Georgina Brown & Major Sponsor, Doug Warby from Warby Tools

Georgina Brown, Engine Specialist hosted by Cummins South Pacific and the first female apprentice to be awarded the top honours by the Commercial Vehicle Industry of Queensland peak body, was named TORGAS Most Outstanding 4th Year Apprentice of the Year. 

Georgina a well-respected member of the Cummins team, is a diversity facilitator and the youngest member of the Cummins Women's Leadership Group.

Georgina was awarded the 2010 CVIAQ Apprentice of the Year Award, and is the first female in the 30year history of CVIAQ to receive this award. Georgina was also selected as one of eleven apprentices to undertake the CVIAQ Industry Ambassador Program, which enhances apprentice communication skills and involves them in community engagement activities to raise the profile and image of our industry.
