Apprenticeships / Traineeships

Apprenticeships are a great way to start your career and 'Earn while you Learn'. Apprentices gain valuable on the job experience as well as working towards a trade qualification. Apprenticeships can take up to four years to complete, the duration varies according to the status of your employment, for example part-time, full-time or school-based. There are provisions for apprentices to complete their apprenticeship early once they have reached the required level of competence, rather than having to wait for a set time period to elapse. Apprentices are required to participate in formal training through a Supervised Registered Training Organisation (SRTO).

Traineeships are like a mini-apprenticehip and vary in length from 12 months to 3 years depending on the qualification. Traineeships provide a broad range of job options across a wide variety of industries. Trainees also undertake an accredited training program. Trainees are paid according to their particular industries award or the State Training Wage for the time spent training over the duration of the Traineeship. Same as Apprenticeships, Traineeships may be undertaken as full-time, part-time or school-based. On successful completion, the Trainee is awarded a qualification that is recognised by industry throughout Australia.
