What are the most common Apprenticeships / Traineeships TORGAS has?
- TORGAS have a wide variety of apprenticeships & traineeships including Retail, Construction, Engineering, Business, Mechanical to name a few. TORGAS is however not actively involed in the hairdressing or childcare industries.
As an adult am I eligible for an Apprenticeship / Traineeship?
- Yes, the same registration process applies for anyone seeking employment through TORGAS, See our Jobs Online page to download our registration form. All positions are filled on the merit of the applicant / candidate. Note: Apprentice / Trainee wages will still apply.
Is it possible to shorten the duration of an Apprenticeship / Traineeship?
- Apprenticeships are competency based and therfore there is the option to fast track an Apprenticeship / Traineeship. This option would depend on the length of time taken to fully complete each competency and the Employees ability to demonstrate all relevent skills in a practical environment.
How will I know when to attend college / TAFE?
- Your TORGAS Inc. Field Officer will discuss the possible training schedule with you and your host employer to determine an agreed time for you to complete your training. Your Field Officer will then book your college block with the appropriate SRTO and confirm these dates with both you and your host employer.
How often do Apprentices / Trainees get visited by TORGAS Field Officers?
- Visits are once every Three (3) months under normal circumstances.
What if there is a downturn in my business & I cannot afford to keep the Apprentice / Trainee?
- If you give Five (5) woking days notice TORGAS can organise to find the Apprentice / Trainee another Host Employer to help him / her complete their training.
Does my business do the final interview?
- Yes by all means, this is an option you can choose to take. All quality pre-interviewed applicants can be sent on to an interview with the Host Employer. The other option of course is to have TORGAS as the legal employer with 25 years experience to make this decision for you.
